Admission Policies

New freshman and transfer students who apply for admission to the University are automatically considered for Honors admission and scholarships. Qualified students are invited to join Honors; no separate applications are required for Honors College consideration. If you are admitted to The Honors College at the time of your admission to UA, you will receive detailed information about Honors in your admission notification. New, better SAT or ACT scores submitted to UA after the point of admission will automatically generate a second review for Honors College consideration.

Current UA Students Nomination

Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 after taking 12 or more units at The University of Arizona and who wish to nominate themselves for entrance into the Honors College are eligible for Honors admission. There are several steps in the process. These steps are in place to ensure that you enter The Honors College with a sense of purpose that will enable you to take full advantage of what Honors has to offer, and to be a contributing member of the Honors community. Time Line for Self-Nominations: If you wish to nominate yourself, be aware that you must do so within the first five weeks of classes in any given semester. Within one week of nominating yourself, you will find out if you are admitted to Honors. If you are admitted, you will be able to take advantage of Honors privileges immediately. If you do not nominate yourself during the first five weeks of classes, The Honors College will receive your self-nomination and may approve it, but you will not be able to take advantage of Honors privileges until the end of the semester after your semester grades are checked. If you have maintained a 3.5 grade point average at the end of the semester, your nomination may be approved and you may register for Honors courses for the following semester.
