Priority Registration

Eligible Honors students register for classes during the time set aside for juniors, giving you better access to the courses you want to take at the times you want to take them. This is one of the highest-rated of all Honors student benefits in that it helps you to build a class schedule that accommodates your diverse interests, major(s)/minor(s), and activities. Eligibility for priority registration is based upon having freshman or sophomore class standing and active Honors student status (e.g. you have officially joined Honors and/or updated for status via the on-line form during the current semester and are not on Honors probation).

Here’s how the system works:

  • You will have access to the WebReg registration system with Juniors. During the first two days, access to the system will be controlled by time bracketing which is based on student identification numbers.
  • If you need to talk to an Honors advisor, please call 621-6901 for an appointment. All Honors students should see an Honors advisor at least once per year. In addition, be sure to see an advisor in your major and/or College before registering for classes.
  • If you are undecided about a major or your interests have changed, you can meet with Diana Rix in The Honors College. Call 621-6901 for an appointment.

Please remember that all other policies and procedures relevant to registration apply to Honors students. Specifically:

  • Any course prerequisites and requirements for advanced standing will apply when registering for classes. You can find these requirements in the UA general catalog.
  • If you want to register for more than 19 units, you need permission from the Dean of your college. This permission is rarely granted to first semester freshmen.
  • Some courses are closed to registration through WebReg and require registration through the department offices (e.g. Spanish, Media Arts, Chemistry). Many of these departments begin their registration early, so contact them early.
  • If you have a hold on your record (due to unpaid bills, library fines, parking tickets, etc.), you will not be able to register using WebReg. You can check Student Link before registering to confirm that you have no blocks on your record.
