The Honors College provides you with flexibility in registering for Honors courses. There is no standard set of Honors courses that all students must take. Rather, you may take Honors courses to satisfy major, minor, general education, or elective credit requirements for the degree. Over 200 Honors courses are offered annually, through collaboration with the undergraduate colleges (Engineering, Nursing, Fine Arts, etc). Honors courses are offered in a variety of contexts from independent sections, to discussion or lab sections, to concurrent sections that require different assignments for Honors students. It is advisable to register for 1 - 6 units of Honors credit each semester to stay "on track" toward graduation with honors.
Strategies for identifying Honors courses to take include:
- Take Honors courses or sections in the general education curriculum (look for the letter "H" in a course or section number)
- Select Honors courses in your major or minor (look for the letter "H" in the course number or section.) If you cannot find Honors courses in your major and minor, talk to your major advisor.
- Consider the option of contracting for Honors credit. Contracting allows you to take non-Honors courses for Honors credit.Click here for more information about contracting
- Seek an individual study experience
- Create an Honors internship

- Preceptor a class
- Register for colloquia
