How much does the National Scholar Visitation Program cost?

The National Scholar Visitation Program is offered for a program fee of $50. The Honors College provides overnight stay and meal accommodations for all National Scholars. Airfare is provided free of charge to out of state students.

If a parent or guardian would like to join you on this visit, we will make every effort to communicate your travel arrangements early enough to coordinate your travel together. The cost for the Parent Track Program is $100, which covers a program fee and most meals. Parents are responsible for arranging their own transportation (including out-of-state airfare) and overnight stay accommodations off campus.

Who will I be staying with on my National Scholars campus visit?

An Honors College ambassador ShadowCat, will be your student guide during the visitation program. ShadowCats are current Honors students who volunteer to participate in student recruitment activities and share their experiences and enthusiasm with prospective students. You will interact with them during meals and casual evening activities, and you will stay with a ShadowCat overnight in their residence hall room.

This scholarship supersedes other tuition waivers or scholarships that are applied first to tuition. UA's National Scholar awards may be combined with other scholarship awards such as those offered through UA colleges or departments . Also, through the Murphey Foundation National Merit Scholarship Program, selected Arizona National Merit Finalists will receive a renewable cash enhancement to the UA National Merit Finalist scholarship; eligible students are invited to apply.

Am I eligible for financial aid or scholarships that originate outside of UA?

Yes. Scholarships you receive from outside sources can be combined with your National Scholars award and are an excellent way to provide additional funding for your education. All students are encouraged to apply for need-based aid, to further expand your options for funding your higher education. You should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid by February 14, 2008 to be considered for the broadest array of financial aid options.
