UA Honors College Admission Process
New Students

New freshman and transfer students who submit The University of Arizona admission application are considered for Honors admission and merit based scholarships. Please note that there is an Honors question included with the application. A response to the Honors question must be provided or you will not be able to complete the application and be considered for Honors. Students are invited to join Honors; no separate application is required for Honors College consideration. If you are admissible to The Honors College, you will receive detailed information about Honors in your official Admissions packet.

Admission to The Honors College is highly selective and competitive. As a result, students are not automatically admitted. Each student is individually reviewed based on their unweighted grade point average, SAT or ACT score and the academic rigor of their high school coursework. Many, many great students will seek admission for the fall of 2010, but only a few students will be selected for a small UA Honors freshmen class.

Prospective Honors students are strongly encouraged to apply early for admission in the fall of 2009 to maximize their consideration. Early admission into Honors improves your selection in residence halls and summer orientation sessions.

New SAT or ACT scores submitted to the UA after the point of admission will automatically generate a second review for Honors College consideration.

National Merit Semi-Finalist, National Merit Finalist, National Hispanic, National Achievement, Flinn and Baird Scholars are guaranteed admission to The Honors College.

For more information about beginning the application process, please visit the Office of Admissions web site at: http://www.admissions.arizona.edu/

Transfer students are reviewed for Honors admission under specific criteria. Details are available at http://www.honors.arizona.edu/ProspectiveStudents/transfer.htm

Current UA Students

Students who enroll at the UA but are not admitted to Honors may still join our college at later time. Students with a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 after taking 12 or more units at The University of Arizona are eligible for Honors admission. Students who meet these criteria may apply for admission at the beginning of the semester. Details are available at http://www.honors.arizona.edu/HonorsAcademics/Policies/nomination.htm

Thank you and we look forward to reviewing your application.
