What is the ACT/SAT score or GPA requirement for admission to The Honors College?
Students are admitted to The Honors College based upon their entire academic profile, which includes HS GPA, strength of academic coursework (participation in accelerated, Honors, AP or IB classes) and ACT/SAT scores. Transfer students are admitted based upon their GPA. Transfer students must have greater than 3.7GPA for admission. Transfer students from NAU or ASU must have 3.5GPA or greater.
Freshmen entering The University of Arizona in fall 2005 had an average GPA of 3.88, 1303 SAT and 28.4 ACT. 80% of our freshman fall class are Arizona residents.

How can I reduce the number of required Honors courses I'll need to take in order to graduate with Honors?
Many Honors students receive credit for UA courses through AP/ IB examinations and are able to move ahead in their undergraduate degrees. In recognition of the high level of academic achievement of students through AP and IB coursework, the Honors College will adjust the number of units required for graduation with Honors and First Level Honors.
- Students who enter Honors as freshmen and receive a 4 or 5 on a minimum of two AP examinations will reduce by 3 the number of credits required for graduation with Honors and First Level Honors.
- Students who enter Honors as freshmen and receive a 4 or 5 on four or more AP examinations will reduce by 6 the number of credits required for graduation with Honors and First Level Honors.
- Students who enter Honors as freshmen and receive a 5, 6, or 7 on one to three IB examinations will reduce by 3 the number of credits required for graduation with Honors and First Level Honors.
- Students who receive a 5, 6, or 7 on four or more IB examinations will reduce by 6 the number of credits required for graduation with Honors and First Level Honors.

I am currently an Honors student in my college/high school. Does that status guarantee admission into The Honors College?
Not necessarily. We consider the academic profile for each student individually and noting your participation in academic honoraries/organizations will be useful as we choose students for admission into The Honors College.

Are letters of recommendation required for admission into The Honors College?
No. Since we admit students based upon information they send to Admissions to be admitted to The University of Arizona, we do not require any additional information. Many students have letters of recommendation written for college admissions and we will certainly welcome them if attached to the admissions application.

I was admitted to The University of Arizona but my admissions letter did not mention anything about The Honors College. Can I still be admitted to The Honors College before I matriculate at the university?
For students not admitted through the regular admissions process, we offer a limited opportunity for students to submit a review packet asking that we take another look at the student’s profile. Details regarding the freshmen review process.

Do you require an interview for admission?
No. We welcome the opportunity to meet with prospective students; however we do not require a formal interview for admission into The Honors College.

How can I apply for admission to The Honors College?
Each student who applies for admission to The University of Arizona is automatically considered for admission to The Honors College. No additional application is necessary.
