High School Students

  1. High School Students
  2. Transfer Students
  3. Current UA Students
  4. I've been admitted, now what?

Students are invited to join The University of Arizona Honors College at the same time or soon after admission to the University. No separate application is required. The Honors College selects students whose admission files clearly indicate that they are prepared to succeed in a challenging academic program. This is evident through such measures as grade point average, standardized tests, and the pattern of college preparatory courses taken throughout high school, as well as through involvement in school and community activities.

There is no “typical” Honors student, because Honors students’ academic interests and extra-curricular activities vary widely. As such, we don’t have hard-and-fast “cut-off” numbers for inviting students to join The Honors College. Honors students are characterized by their focus and engagement as well as by their achievements. For the class entering in the Fall 0f 2006, the average SAT score was 1302; the average ACT was 29; the average unweighted academic GPA was 3.88.

We are looking for students who are eager to engage in the quest for knowledge and discovery. There are two methods by which students who are not admitted to Honors as freshmen may join at a later date. These include the review process and the nomination process (joining Honors after completing 12 or more units at UA with a 3.50 GPA).
