Students who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 after taking 12 or more units at The University of Arizona and who wish to nominate themselves for entrance into the Honors College are eligible for Honors admission. There are a few steps in the process. These steps are in place to ensure that you enter The Honors College with a sense of purpose that will enable you to take full advantage of what Honors has to offer, and to be a contributing member of the Honors community.
Students who are accepted into The Honors College will be notified by email, and are required to meet with an Honors College Academic Advisor before their Honors status is made active, and before they may register for Honors courses or take advantage of Honors privileges. The number of Honors units that a self-nominating student will need in order to graduate with Honors will be determined at this advising meeting. In general, students entering with 60 or more units will require 18 Honors units earned after they are accepted to The Honors College, and students with 30 or more units will require 24 Honors units, again earned after they are accepted to The Honors College.
Non-transfer freshmen students who self-nominate at the end of their first semester, or in the first five weeks of their second semester, shall require 30 Honors units to graduate with Honors. However, for these students only, any Honors units earned during the first and second semester, and any AP or IB reduction in units, shall be honored.
