Why did you choose to attend The University of Arizona?

At the time of my freshman year, I was still deciding on what field I would like to study most. I thought I wanted to study science, but a part of me was tied strongly to art, which is what I decided to pursue in the end. I chose UA because it was neither too close, nor too far away from my home near Phoenix. I also received some financial aid, and I liked Tucson’s artsy, laid-back vibe, surrounding nature and the mountains.

What are some benefits of being a student in The Honors College?

The staff is always very friends and ready to help out with anything. The Honors classes can be challenging, but rewarding on interactive and intellectual levels. You also get to graduate with Honors, which is nice.

What clubs/organizations are you involved with?

Currently, I am a member of the Art History club and member of the Rambler’s Hiking Club. I was the Vice President of the Art History club last year, which was great fun, but this year I decided to take it easy because I also work.

What is your favorite class?

Figure Drawing for Illustration (ART 368). I also love my Intaglio Printmaking (ART 251) class. Both are challenging, a lot of work, but also a lot of fun. And you know you love something when you have fun working hard at it.

Who is your favorite professor?

I love my Figure Drawing class because Mike Nolan, while a graduate student, makes it exciting and funny and spontaneorus (we draw with our feet!), but challenging and focused on learning anatomy. Also, everyone should take a class from Professor Swanson in the Economics department. He makes going to ECON 200 at 8am something to look forward to.

Where is the best place to study on-campus?

Anywhere outside, I like to sit by the pond on Park Ave, across from a bookstore.

What is a book that you have read in the past year for fun?

“White Teeth” by Zadie Smith. A great book.

Have you studied abroad? If so, where? When?

Yes, in spring 2005 I studied in Orvieto, Italy. I was wonderful!
