Information about the Admission Process

New students who apply for admission to The University of Arizona are automatically considered for Honors College admission; no separate application is required. This automatic consideration only occurs if valid SAT or ACT scores are included with the application. The Honors College sets the Honors admission criteria and the actual application forms and documents (transcripts, test scores, etc) are reviewed and processed in the Office of Admissions. Students who are admitted to The Honors College will be notified at the point of admission to the University or soon thereafter.

If you have been admitted to the University and your letter did not mention admission to The Honors College, there may be questions as to why you were not admitted and what is needed to become eligible for Honors College admission at a later date.

About the Selection Criteria

Admission to The University of Arizona Honors College is very selective and based solely on academic factors. Entering freshmen are considered for Honors College admission based upon four factors which, in combination, present a profile of students' high school preparation for university coursework and their likelihood of academic success in The Honors College. Honors admission is not based upon leadership or community service; the factors used for Honors College admission are:

• Unweighted academic grade point average (A=4.0) and
• SAT1 or ACT scores and
• Total number of academic units attempted (including courses in progress during senior year) and
• Rigor of courses attempted (such as AP, IB, dual enrollment, honors, accelerated, including courses in progress during senior year).
