Joseph B. Walther

I remained at UofA for my MA in Speech Communication in 1984, and returned for my PhD in Communication which was granted in 1990.

I have held professorial positions at the University of Oklahoma, Northwestern University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and Cornell University in the past. I am now a full professor in the Department of Communication and the Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies & Media at Michigan State University. My research and teaching, which I began at UofA, has focused on the interpersonal aspects of Internet communication in groups, organizations, and relationships of various kinds. I have been fortunate to have been influential in the field and my research publications have been widely cited.
