Kathleen Fockler Curley M.A., M.L.S After graduating from the Honors Program in 1971 with a degree in English, I went on to get my M.A. in English and then a Masters in Library Science, both from the U. of A. In 1977 I began my career at Pima Community College at the West Campus Library. In 1991 I became the Library Director at the Downtown Campus Library. Being a faculty member at Pima has given me many opportunities for professional development and I have been able to participate in post grad work at both Harvard University and Oxford University. In addition to my library work, I also serve as a faculty advisor for Phi Theta Kappa, the International Honor Society of the community college. The Pima College Chapter is rated as one of the top 20 chapters in the nation and one of our members is the current international president. I have been named a Distinguished Advisor several times and have served as a Faculty Scholar for the society. It gives me great pleasure to see so many of my students transfer to the Honors College. On the personal side I have been married to my husband Ed since 1971. We love to travel and have been to Italy, Ireland, the UK and Russia. Our favorite destination, however, is France where we have gone almost yearly since 1999. Last October we rented an apartment in Paris for two weeks while I took French lessons at the Alliance française. Over the years I have been able to work with the Honors College on various projects and I have been so happy to see it develop into a College. My students who have transferred into the college have had a wonderful experience. Those of you who were in the Honors Program would be amazed at the difference now that it is a College.
