Paul D. Colaizzi, Ph.D.

I have been with the USDA-Agricultural Research Service as a research agricultural engineer since 2002. I am stationed at the USDA-ARS Conservation and Production Research Laboratory in Bushland, TX. My primary interests are development of advanced irrigation technologies and management systems (such as remote sensing) for crop production, with the overall goal of using our precious water resources more efficiently, more sustainably, and with less environmental impact.

The April 2008 issue of our ARS magazine (Agricultural Research) featured our recent work at Bushland, which is part of a multi-location, multi-agency, interdisciplinary effort.

There is a photo of me toward the end demonstrating subsurface drip irrigation. I’m working with two other UA graduates at Bushland: Dr. Steve Evett (Soil Science, 1989) and Dr. Susan O’Shaughnessy (Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering, 2006), who are also featured in the ARS article.
