Commitment to Diversity

As part of a global community, Honors students at The University of Arizona embrace diversity as more than differences in class, gender, ethnicity and religion. Exposure to diversity not only promotes a greater appreciation for what makes each of us unique, but also provides a chance for us to embrace invaluable opportunities for personal growth. By extending our boundaries and challenging us to open our minds, celebrating diversity adds to the richness of the human experience.

–Honors Student Council

This happens in ways intrinsic to The Honors College. The College fosters a spirit of inquiry and discovery for academically talented students. Through honors courses across the curriculum, high ability students strengthen their multiple intelligences, discover new talents, engage in the creative enterprise of the university, and apply their insights and ideas in real world settings locally and globally. The Paladins program, an academic success course, provides academic and social support, expands horizons, and builds networks among students from rural and urban backgrounds, whose vistas are deserts, mountains, oceans and plains, and who bridge cultures, continents, and causes. Above all, the Honors community of scholars hones their intellectual and social skills through interacting with faculty, staff, and peers who bring together different intelligences, life experiences, values, and beliefs.
