Dr. Karna Walter, Director of Nationally Competitive Scholarships
Dr. Karna Walter assists students as they apply for one or more of the nationally competitive scholarships available to undergraduate students. These scholarships, funded by foundations external to the UA, provide financial support for exceptional students, and each scholarship targets specific types of students with specific majors and future plans. Dr. Walter works closely with faculty in identifying prospective applicants and administering the scholarship nomination processes. She teaches a one-credit course in the spring semester designed to prepare students to apply for scholarships. In addition, she assists Dean MacCorquodale with Honors-related research, advises students in the International Studies program, provides directions to students interested in earning Honors credit for internships, and serves on a few university-wide committees.
