- Intended to foster excellence in science, mathematics, and engineering for outstanding undergraduates pursuing academic study and research in those areas
- Eligible for up to one or two years of funding
- Prospective nominees must have excellent grades, research experience, excellent letters of reference from three people (usually faculty), and a well-written, well-conceived essay.
- Open to undergraduate juniors and seniors
- The UA will nominate up to four applicants
