Introduction
This web page is designed to help you identify scholarship and fellowship programs appropriate to your professional interests, your level of academic accomplishment, and your status as either an undergraduate or graduate student. These are not programs funded from within the University of Arizona. If that is what you are seeking, you should see the Scholarship Office in Old Main.
The Office of Nationally Competitive Scholarships in the Honors College, headed by Dr. Karna Walter, seeks to assist you in refining your goals and perhaps winning one of these very prestigious awards. This web page is a first step in that process. Use it to get a rough idea about which scholarships you could seek. Follow the links to particular scholarship or foundation websites, go through those websites thoroughly (many have very detailed advice), then come to us to discuss your plans. We will do everything possible to assist you in your quest. |

David Hernandez

Goldwater Scholarship recipient David Hernandez is an undergraduate student, double-majoring in physics and astronomy. He plans to become a theoretical astrophysicist, enjoys learning new things about physics and the universe, and hopes to obtain an understanding of why things are the way they are. He says that college has been a driving force and motivation in his life to get him on the right track to become what he wants to become. With the Goldwater Scholarship, which provides funding for math, engineering, and natural sciences students, David is certainly on the right track. David is currently involved with UA Science Ambassadors and UA Percussion Studio, and is working as a research assistant under professor Romeel Dave. In his spare time, David likes to play drums and spend time with his family.

Jill Craven (2006)

Jill Craven is a senior who will be graduating with a degree in chemical engineering this spring. She recently received the Udall Scholarship, which “opened [her] eyes to a whole new way of looking at engineering processes in an environmental manner.” She will be attending Caltech to pursue a PhD in chemical engineering, with the hopes of teaching and doing research at the university level in the future. She also sees herself pursuing a job in governmental policy to ensure that the positive impact engineering can have on the world will be incorporated into everyday life. In her spare time, Jill enjoys training for triathlons, taking nature photography, and going hiking. She is also involved with Engineering Ambassadors, Tau Beta Pi, and Arizona Masters Swimming.
