Orthopaedic Outcomes Internship Program

The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery provides students with the opportunity to assist with the collection of functional and patient reported-outcomes for the purposes of determining the quality of orthopaedic care provided by Banner University Medical Center – Tucson/South. When not collecting data, the intern will also have the opportunity to shadow surgeons in the clinic, learn the skills necessary to conduct research, and contribute to a discussion of evidence-based healthcare during weekly meetings with Dr. Michael Dohm.

The expectation is that the intern will select a quality initiative or research project for additional in-depth investigation for the objective of producing a publication.

Need:  We have added an additional physician-scientist who would like to utilize the services of OOIs to collect research data in the clinic. Therefore we need 10 additional applicants for the Fall 2019 semester.  We are particularly interested in sophomores.

Requirements:  We are looking for applicants with (1) an interest in healthcare outcomes (2) able to travel to orthopaedic clinics (3) able to commit to 4 consecutive hours in the clinic  (4) able to attend training seminars Mondays at 4pm.

Contact: If interested in applying, please send a resume and a description of your interest in healthcare outcomes and/or orthopaedics to Cynthia Fastje at cfastje@ortho.arizona.edu.
