Catching a Break on The Late Show

For as long as she can remember, Katherine Dolan has had a “strong fascination” with late night television. As a double major in English and creative writing with concentrations in fiction writing, film and literature, her background made her a prime candidate for any writing internship; and last semester, she decided to apply to every late night television show she could think of until she finally heard back.

Stephanie Reed

Fit to a Tee

When Stephanie Reed was first accepted into The Honors College, she had mixed feelings. She was worried that there would be “a crazy workload and much harder classes”. But she soon found out that being an Honors student was much more than it appeared to be. Not only did she find a wonderful community of peers in Árbol de la Vida and have the opportunity to take great Honors classes, but she also put her architecture skills to good use after winning a contest to design the College’s 50th anniversary t-shirt.

Student Spotlight: Dana Dobbins

Summer Vacation? What’s that? Many Honors students fill their summers with a variety of experiences that contribute to their personal and professional education, like internships, study abroad, volunteering, or coursework at the UA. Take Dana Dobbins, for instance. Soon after the end of the Spring 2012 semester, she headed off to Peru to where she spent five weeks as a volunteer teacher for elementary school English classes.

Steven Lerman

For the Love of the Guitar

Steven Lerman started playing the guitar when he was 13 years old. By 16, he was playing classical guitar and enrolled in one of the biggest high school guitar programs in the country in San Diego, California. He played first chair in advanced guitar and even worked as a teaching assistant for an intermediate class.
